Finding myself thinking about my grandfathers and other relatives who served in WWII today.  Above, both grandfathers (top row) and two great uncles (bottom row).  Sadly, due to family controversies, I don’t have pictures of all who served during that time.  I think total, there were an additional four great uncles who served, two of whom were brothers who met up in France after D-Day (landing in different waves on that day).  Though they’re all gone now, I’m proud to have known them.  I’m honored that some of them took the time to talk to me when I was nothing but a merely interested teen and tell me some of their experiences or, like my granddaddy (1st pic), sit with me and watch World War II movies.  It’s because of them I learned to love history and ultimately pursued two degrees in that field.
